Conception, Pregnancy & Birth: THE CHILDBIRTH BIBLE FOR TODAY'S PARENTS Review

Conception, Pregnancy & Birth: THE CHILDBIRTH BIBLE FOR TODAY'S PARENTS

I spent hours at the local bookstore browsing through the "Pregnancy and Childcare" section, and this is the book I chose. Dr. Miriam Stoppard thoughtfully educates new parents-to-be with unbiased information and illustrations. Other books seemed to be either too clinical or trying too hard to be "down to earth" or "real". I appreciate their efforts, but I can find that kind of information online or check it out from the library for a quick read. This is a fascinating book that covers everything from genetic counseling to sex after delivery and will be an invaluable guide for anyone interested in learning more about childbirth.

A one-stop goldmine for new parents! After an extensive survey ofpregnancy resources, I was very pleased with the most recent edition ofPlanning Your Pregnancy & Birth. Coming from one of the nation's topauthoritaties on OB/GYN care(ACOG), this handbook is ideal for expectantparents, students, healthcare professionals, or anyone wanting to getsolid, current pregnancy details. Easy-to-read, comprehensive - with info.ranging from preconception to postpartum to pregnancy loss - and chockedfull of clear illustrations and graphs, this resource contains loads ofhelpful tips in every section (including checklists) and includes a sectionon new father issues. Terms with easy-to-understand definitions, morecharts, and a fill-in section for you to keep track of your pregnancy, areall included in the back of this book. I also found the smaller size andpaperback version (fits easily in most purses & briefcases) to be ahandy alternative to many of the larger, bulkier options on the markettoday. Get this book and you won't need any others!

I don't have adequate words to express what a thrill it was to read your book.I literally stayed up all night last night, as I couldn't put it down.Your story was compelling and it moved me to both laugh and cry inside.Your humor was excellent, and your sensitive descriptions of your trials and anguish even more so.In a way, I feel like I've been priveleged to read your diary.Your journey was very personal and your candor was remarkable.I have no doubt that women who read the book will be inspired and motivated to seek proper medical care. You will bolster the courage in women who are emotionally beaten down by their infertility.Thank you for an inspiring and important book.

Pregnancy and Parenting after Thirty-Five: Mid Life, New Life (A Johns Hopkins Press Health Book) Review

Pregnancy and Parenting after Thirty-Five: Mid Life, New Life
Average Reviews:

I found this book while waiting for my second child at age 39. 8 years since the last so a lot has been forgotten and a lot has changed. It's a mine of useful information especially the whole issue of what tests to have/not have for the possibility of abnormality. I really liked that the writers understand that not all pregnancies end happily ever after. The fact that they both went through this themselves really shows through.Silvia S.

Product Description:

More and more women are having babies after the age of thirty-five and experiencing the joy of motherhood. But mothers-to-be in this age group sometimes face unique medical, emotional, and social challenges. Conception may be difficult and the risk of miscarriage during early pregnancy is higher, as is the potential for complications such as hypertension and diabetes. And having a child later in life can also be surprisingly disruptive to well-established domestic routines and carefully cultivated careers. Michele Moore and Caroline de Costa -- two physicians who have been down this road themselves -- offer reliable medical expertise and personal reassurance to women tackling these challenges. Pregnancy and Parenting after Thirty-Five covers a broad range of issues for mothers in mid life, from the possibility of Cesarean section to the awkwardness of being the oldest mom at PTA meetings to the joy of holding your infant in your arms. Incorporating the stories of real women who have gone through mid-life pregnancy, Moore and de Costa have created a valuable resource that will help other women do so realistically and with confidence. One of the few books devoted to prospective mothers over thirty-five, this one also includes information on surrogacy, adoption, and the first few months of being a new mother.
