(More customer reviews)This book is a MUST READ for anyone trying to get pregnant.At 39 I had an FSH of 15.9 and was told by a fertility specialist to consider donor eggs or adoption - end of story no other options.He said I was out of eggs and gave me a 5% chance of conciving (with or without IVF) and a 1% chance of carrying a baby to full term.My husband and I where devistated to say the least.I did tons of research, sat in chat rooms and read thousands of on-line postings and support group websites.This book made the difference!I never believed in anything non-western and thought all the other stuff like acupuncture was hokey.I read the book cover to cover, followed a strict diet and did acupunture. After one, yes ONE month of trying I became pregnent and had a perfect girl.Nine months after that I did everything again and after four months of trying go pregnant again and have perfect little boy.I want to put their pictures on a brick and throw it through that doctors wondow. If you are having problems please read this book. While I understand that this may not help someone with blocked tubes who needs surgery at least you can check the box that it's not an imbalance due to bad diet or stress. Please ladies, read this book with an open mind and give it a try.This book and a lot of sincere prayer helped me.And to those of you trying who are frustrated and heartbroken please know that you are not alone!

(More customer reviews)I love this journal. There are spaces for you to mark your temperature and days of your cycle. What I wasn't expecting were all the facts you get on every page - a great bonus! Each month is a separate chapter, each week a 2-page spread with journaling boxes for each day, information blurbs on the sidelines, and usually a small Q&A related to the info. One week there is a place to write down all the underlying health problems you might want to bring up with your fertility doctor, another week there is a section to list your food vices and brainstorm ways to overcome them.

I do have frustrations however - mostly about lack of space. The book suggests making a separate food journal. Why not include room to do that here? I would prefer larger areas to journal each day, more info boxes for tracking things like mood, general wellness vs. sickness, cervical fluid, and the actual date to accompany the cycle date. There just isn't room to jot that all down yourself in the smallish journaling boxes provided.

Still, this is a great resource!

One day, DH and I were in Target and I bought a copy of a really cute journal The Fertility Journal. As I started using it, I started researching the people who made it available Conceive Online Magazine via Chronicle Books. While I was looking around I discovered "Fertility Facts" and immediately started searching for a copy to read for myself, and boy am I glad that I did.
"Fertility Facts" has been such a warm and fuzzy blessing during a fairly depressing time. Whether you have known fertility issues or are just considering trying for pregnancy it is a fabulous tool. With over 300 pages of facts and vocabulary and easy to understand information you can pore over this book for hours soaking in all the information. The facts are written with a personality and there are plenty of giggles as well as "oh, really??" reactions.
This is a book that I plan to keep on my shelf into the future and share with anyone who might even have an inkling to read it. I highly recommend it for every woman of child bearing years as well as any man going on the journey with her, as there is a chapter just for them. Go get yourself a copy and while you're at it check out the magazine too. It is all quite the blessing. Plus it's pretty. *grin*

(More customer reviews)What a well-written book!Reading Toni Weschler's "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" before I read this book helped in understanding the signs of fertility andproper charting of these signs.
In response to the reviewer who was upset that Dr Shettles advises going off the pill 6 months prior...her doctor is right, a woman may ovulate as early as one month after discontinuing the pill; this would allow her to successfully acheive pregnancy as early as her first cycle after coming off the pill.What it is VITAL for the reader to understand (by reading the preceding chapters and not just skipping ahead), is that Dr Shettles recommends waiting at least six months SO THAT A WOMAN'S CYCLE RETURNS TO A NORMAL, SOMEWHAT PREDICTABLE STATE.Only then, can she and her partner hope to practice natural sex pre-selection.Most of our physicians are only concerned with helping us to acheive pregnancy, be it of a boy or girl; any practicer of Dr Shettles' method should be thrilled to have either one...but if you'd like to swing the odds one way or the other READ THIS BOOK!!!

Unfortunately, my copy of this book is now full, dog-eared and showing signs of having been consulted too many times. BUT, this book has helped me enormously to keep up with the sheer volume of information given to me by doctors during my quest to become pregnant.It is not my only reference source on infertility to be sure...but it is not designed to be.Along with some basic information on the pregnancy process and infertility methods, what this book really is now - is a reference source on ME and my fight gainst infertility! I feel it is invaluable for people facing these challenges to have one place to keep everything straight.It is so important to take charge of your own issues -getting pregnant for some is a long ride - and if you are on this ride you must take part in the driving.The world of overworked fertility doctors is vast - just look around the waiting room if you don't believe me...I cannot count the number of times I have been in one appointment or another and have had the correct information on my status at my fingertips faster than my physician because this book was open on my lap!
I have given my mother - director of a public library -- the name as well, so she could add a sample copy to her shelves. Maybe then, women facing issues getting pregnant might see it, buy a copy for themselves and start taking charge of their cycles, emotions and actively managing their fertility plans.
My only critique is that I need more pages in mine...
